Diamond protective windows

Coating-free.Laser windows.

For CO₂ and fiber lasers, cut to fit your cutting head.

We pattern the anti-reflective surface directly into diamond, so there’s no coating to burn off when spatter hits.

Replacing windows
stops production.

Spatter, smoke and residue collect on the protective window. They absorb laser energy and heat the coating until it fails. Replacing the window means stopping the machine.

We’re developing diamond windows to reduce those replacements and the downtime that comes with them.

We pattern the
diamond itself.

Our process forms anti-reflective structures directly in the diamond surface. No separate film is needed.

Structures in diamond

Tapered features are formed in the diamond surface itself. There’s no separate coating to burn off or delaminate.

Spreads heat

Diamond’s high thermal conductivity helps spread local heat.

Diamond handles heat.

Diamond combines high thermal conductivity with a hard surface and broad optical transmission. Those properties make it useful for laser windows.

Thermal

High thermal conductivity

High thermal conductivity spreads heat away from local hot spots.

Mechanical

Hard surface

Diamond’s hardness helps it resist surface damage.

Optical

Broad transmission

Diamond transmits across a broad spectrum, from UV to far infrared.

Where these windows are used.

We’re starting with industrial laser processes where spatter and contamination cause frequent window replacements.

Other optics, the same process.

We’re starting with protective windows. Longer term, we plan to apply the same patterning process to other laser optics and photonic components.
